The Organized Family Historian: How to File, Manage, and Protect Your Genealogical Research and Heirlooms (National Genealogical Society Guides) (Paperback) by Ann Carter Fleming (Author) (currently out of print)
Of course in addition to researching your ancestors and tracing your family tree, you will want to create biographies, record personal stories and conduct interviews with your living relatives so your family history is complete and up to date.
