When my own children were young, my father suggested taking a photograph of them every month, in the same location and pose. These photographs, he explained, could later be assembled into a type of time-line of their growth and development.
I wanted to share a scrapbook project and the process we’ve gone through as I believe many of my readers may have similar such scrapbooks and may wonder what can be done with them.

May is Personal History Awareness Month with May 16th identified as the International Day for Sharing Life Stories. I know lots of people who plan on writing their autobiography ‘some day’ so this month just might be as good a time as any to get started on that.
For a good part of my life, i had a tin cracker box filled with old letters. Most of these were letters sent to me by old boyfriends, away at college or otherwise separated from me and declaring their affections.
I was at a networking event a couple nights ago and had a great conversation with two gentlemen about a variety of issues; personal, domestic and global. At some point, we began talking about our services and what specifically we do at Legacy Multimedia.
Lots of you have boxes of old film laying around in the closets. Some of you have projectors but most of you don’t and therefore haven’t viewed the film in many years. Some of you may be reconciling the estate of a parent and didn’t realize how much footage they actually had.
First of all, what is oral history? Put simply it is a collection of testimonies by living persons to record their unique life stories. They are not based on gossip, hearsay or rumors. Instead, oral histories are chronicles of direct observations as told by the people who witnessed the events or lived through the experiences being described.
This past summer I stayed at a bed and breakfast in Colorado. It was a beautiful, well-restored Victorian home and in the parlor, hung many turn-of-the-century photos of the home and of some its residents. I asked the proprietor if she knew who the people were.
