My NPR “This I Believe” essay airs on KUHF radio

Last fall I submitted an essay to the “This I Believe” program with National Public Radio.
To my immense pleasure, it was chosen to be archived on the national website and to air locally in Houston.

A few months ago I recorded the session with Paul Pendergraft at the KUHF radio station on the University of Houston campus. It aired today on Paul’s show and is archived on their website. You can read the transcripts and hear the piece on KUHF’s website as well as read it on the national “This I Believe” website.

My father, Martin Elkort, whom I speak about in my essay, has a beautiful website displaying many of his photographs and information about his history of photography. I hope you’ll take the time to view it.

Stefani Twyford is a personal historian sharing life stories, connecting generations and preserving legacies. To learn more, visit her web site, find her on Twitter as @stefanitwyford, visit the Legacy Multimedia Facebook Fan Page, or send her an e-mail.

Congratulations on being able to air your thoughts on “This I Believe”. I submitted something about teachers a few years ago when NPR started the segment again and never heard back…so you, my friend, were successful for both of us! Your creations seem to be contributing to familes and communities. I am so happy to know you and to be part of your past. Would love to know the personal moments you had on your trip recently. My door is open.
    Love you,
