Lost But Not Forgotten
I’ve talked a lot about the necessity of converting your old 8mm and 16mm film before it degrades or the people in your life who can identify the footage are gone. But what about that film once it’s out of the possession of your family? Who will become it’s caretaker?
Comedian Christopher Cannon of Greeley Colorado started collecting other people’s abandoned film at garage sales and flea markets, collecting over 20 hours worth of footage. Identifying major themes that run through most of our home movies, he created a movie, ‘8mm: A Reel Story‘, which, combined with his comedy act, recently debuted at The Rialto Theater in Loveland Colorado. Through humor, he educates his audience about the need to take care of our family memories.
